There were challenges for Petunia on the streets of Los Angeles. She was afraid, helpless, and perplexed. People did not know where she came from or how long she had been homeless, but they agreed that she needed to be preserved. Hope for Paws, based in Los Angeles, decided to help Petunia after learning about her. Hope for Paws helps abandoned and lost animals like Petunia. As soon as the rescuers arrived, Petunia ducked beneath a truck to hide because she was unaware they were trying to help.
During his reach underneath the truck, Eldad Hagar grabbed Petunia by the leg and grabbed her by the collar. Hagar’s extensive experience in animal rescue convinced him that it was safe for him to touch a stray dog, despite most animal rescue professionals advising against it.
It was soon apparent to Hagar and his team that Petunia was lactating, which meant puppies were probably somewhere nearby. They had to act fast – the puppies could not survive without their mother.
A little ear infection prevented the rescuers from finding Petals, Petunia’s baby. Petals opened her eyes a couple of days after being rescued and was in equal good health.
