Whether you’re well-known or not, having a pet dog is a great feeling. Even the biggest celebrities rely on their dogs’ love. And now one beloved actor has announced he has a new pet dog, and fans are loving the adorable photo of them together.
Whether it’s his iconic performance as Marty McFly in the Back to the Future trilogy or the incredible work he does to raise money for Parkinson’s research, Michael J. Fox is one of the world’s most beloved and admired stars. Recently, he announced that he had a new best friend — a dog. He also loves dogs.
The actor posted an adorable picture of his puppy on Instagram, welcoming Blue to his new home.
The post was commented on by many of Fox’s followers, including celebrities Jen Grey and Juliana Margulies.
The Oscar-winning actress Julianne Moore wrote, “Oh my gosh!!! So cute!” There have also been many comparisons between Blue and Einstein, Doc Brown’s time-traveling pet dog in Back to the Future:
Fox previously owned a dog named Gus, who he loved very much. It was the dog that supported him through his health battles after the actor was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in the 1990s. As part of CBS News’ special The Pet Project, he explained that people with chronic illnesses often isolate themselves and make their world small so there isn’t much to deal with. However, a dog will help open them up to new experiences.
As he underwent surgery to remove a tumor from his spine in 2018, his dog was especially important to him. “He kind of circles the wheelchair with this low kind of woof woof, woof woof, and sat in front of the wheelchair right in front of me, and looked at me, and I said, ‘It’s going to be okay.’”
Sadly, Gus died in 2021 at the age of 12. Fox remembered his beloved pet as a “great dog and loyal friend.”
As heartbreaking as it is when a beloved pet passes away, nothing can really replace them. However, Fox has found a way to help another dog.
Through thick and thin, Blue will also provide comfort and companionship.
