In our journey through life we come across individuals who we call friends. However only a handful of them truly stand by us. Lend a helping hand when we find ourselves in need. Over time these friends can become as significant, as our family members. It is crucial for everyone to have genuine friendships as they contribute to a happier and more fulfilled life without a doubt.
These companions aren’t always human. There are many animals that have shown themselves to be some of our closest friends too. Many people choose to have dogs and cats, as pets. They can attest to the profound impact these animals have on their lives. The same holds true for us here well. Horses are truly our allies and I think we all feel grateful to have them in our lives.
Whenever we’re feeling down there’s nothing like going for a horse ride to instantly lift our spirits. It brings me joy to have these beautiful creatures in our lives and experience such a positive impact. In the video that follows we’ll witness a bond between Donnie MacAdams, a 58 year old resident of Rough Terrain Farm, in Vermont and his beloved companion Waco Hanover, a retired Standardbred Chocolate Sundae racehorse.
Waco is already 40 years old which is quite remarkable considering it’s equivalent to a century in human years! Here’s an interesting tidbit; January 1st happens to be the birthday for all horses in North America. I had no idea, about that until now! Waco comes from an illustrious lineage of horses and you can actually find his pedigree information online. When MacAdams first welcomed Waco into their lives he was facing some eating difficulties. However with MacAdams dedicated care and spending time together a wonderful friendship blossomed between them.
Eight years later and the two are now constant companions, they have not spent one night apart in all that time. What a beautiful friendship. It really makes me proud to be part of the horse world. Please have a look at the video and let us know what you think. Also, let us know more about how close you are with your horses.
