It’s truly difficult to grasp the level of fear and anxiety that consumes an owner when their beloved pet goes missing, unless you’ve experienced it yourself. The constant worry of their whereabouts, their well being or even their survival. These are the questions that plague the owner with immense stress and sadness.
This exact scenario unfolded for Alan Whitton, a 53 year old life coach, when his Jack Russell named Mitzi disappeared during one of their regular walks. It was the first time Mitzi had ever gone missing, leaving Alan in a state of deep distress and panic.
Alan welcomed Mitzi into his life as a puppy back in 2018 after losing his long time companion, Tinker. Overcoming such a significant loss was tough, but having Mitzi by his side made things much more bearable!
Mitzi has always been an affectionate and loyal girl since day one, faithfully following Alan wherever he went. She’s a cuddly doggo who adores snuggling with her owner! And even during moments of mischievousness or peculiar behavior, she never loses her irresistible charm.
One day, the pair of bonded companions decided to take their usual walk when a Basset Hound began chasing her. Unfortunately, she didn’t come back.
She went missing for a consecutive two days
Alan spent the rest of that day desperately searching for his dog, but without any success. Despite thoroughly scouring the entire area, there was no sign of Mitzi, who mysteriously disappeared.
As it was already getting dark, Alan eventually returned home. He had a sleepless night filled with worry about his little partner who had never slept outside before. Given her vulnerability to potential predators in the woods, he couldn’t help but fear the worst.
The search continued over the next two days but still yielded no luck in finding his beloved companion. Alan even distributed missing posters throughout the area in hopes of receiving any information from the local community.
Just when everything seemed bleak and hopeless, around 11 A.M., he received an unexpected phone call.
A resident reported that their own dog had been sniffing around a foxhole near their house. Alan dropped everything and immediately rushed to investigate at that location!
Upon reaching the location, he took out some of Mitzi’s toys and playfully squeezed them near the entrance of the foxhole. Within moments, he heard a faint whimper from Mitzi, although he couldn’t see her. With the help of nearby residents, they began digging into the foxhole. After approximately two hours of determined effort, he was finally reunited with Mitzi!
As her tiny head emerged from inside the hole, she looked at her loving father. He reached in and gently lifted her up to his chest while tears streamed down his face.
The crowd that had assisted this man in rescuing his dog erupted into cheers of joy. They were thrilled to witness the owner and his beloved pet finally reunited after enduring such hardships together.
After nearly losing all hope, Alan finally embraced Mitzi in his arms! He shed tears as he contemplated all that could have gone wrong if he hadn’t found her in time. But now she was there, safe and content in his embrace – and that was all that truly mattered!
The great news was that this white and brown girl remained unharmed following the incident.
She didn’t suffer any injuries—just a few ticks that were removed once she was rescued.
Mitzi and her father are still doing well, enjoying their lives side by side! He even created an Instagram account named MiracleMitzi in her honor, where he shares Mitzi’s daily adventures with his followers.
Mitzi’s “incident” only strengthened their bond and they love each other even more after she was miraculously saved that day from the foxhole.
