In our minds, it is inconceivable that a family could reject an animal on the grounds that it was sick, but sadly that was the case with Thanos the dog. A cancerous tumor was growing on this beautiful big dog’s head, and he only had a few weeks to live. Thankfully Luciano Karosas, from Berazategui in Buenos Aires, welcomed Thanos into his home so he could live out his days with unconditional love.
Despite being rejected by four families due to his illness, the sick pup was still waiting to be adopted. After hearing how many families had dumped this dog due to his illness, the 21-year-old couldn’t resist showing him as much love as possible during his final weeks. Rejected by four families Additionally, Thanos was constantly rejected by four different families who could not cope with his illness, and was returned to the animal shelter by the fourth family.
“With my hand in my pocket, I had a piece of my heart,” he said to Portal Amigo Cao. As well as trying to make Thanos’ last days as comfortable as possible, Luciano also took him to his local veterinary clinic to ask if the tumor could be removed. “Having so little time together was hard for me to accept,” he remarked, according to Unilad.
“I took him to a stem cell veterinarian to see what we could do, looking for a little more hope (which had given him 40 days to live) and told me that there is no treatment that extends that time.” Made him happy in his final weeks
Upon learning that there was nothing they could do, Luciano decided the two should make the most of the remaining time Thanos had. In the last weeks of Thanos’ life, he was lavished with love and care, but ultimately this cruel illness overtook him and he died earlier this year.
Taking to social media to pay tribute to his four-legged friend Luciano wrote: “I will love you forever.” The dog just needed some extra love to survive as this terrible disease took over. I’m glad he’s no longer suffering. I can’t believe he was rejected by so many families during his hour of need.
Rest in peace Thanos!
