During the encounter, employees were reminded of the importance of bear awareness, particularly when working in an oil field as remote as Prudhoe Bay on the coast of Alaska. The tense situation lasted only a few minutes.

Employees were told by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game that the sow and her cubs frequently fed from dumpsters. It was reported to FTW Outdoors that the sow was aggressive because she had temporarily lost sight of her other cub. Another employee captured the footage from the shop.
