Our family adopted Harlow from a P.S.A. shelter in January 2021 after finding him abandoned in a restricted space while his owner was abroad.
Since he was too terrified to stay in the cage, I had to stay by his side and talk to him. He was also fed so he would gain weight.
In the morning, he was able to play a little outside with Jada, but outside, he became quite unhappy when left alone, which led me to have to keep talking to him all the time.
Despite his healthy appetite, he gained two kilograms after a week, even though he still appeared thin and was at worst 20 kilograms overweight.
He gained more confidence as the months went on. He learned to walk, lost his fear of the dark, and began to enjoy racing around. After three months, the author says, he enjoyed his first beach trip.
It’s amazing to see Harlow’s impressive transformation. He’s now a happy, healthy, confident, and sometimes mischievous dog thanks to his love of play.
