In the middle of the California wildfires, Ace, a 19-year-old dog, was brought to the Sonoma animal shelter near his end of life. His last hours were spent at the SPCA more than 150 miles away, where there was little hope for a good outcome.
Nevertheless, Bonnie, the dog’s adoptive mother, noticed that the dog was still active every day and was full of energy, so she decided to adopt the dog.
In order to keep Ace the dog until a new permanent home could be found, Bonnie suggested to the shelter that she keep it at her home. Ace becomes more and more comfortable in Bonnie’s house during the first few days. Later, he becomes friends with Bonnie’s other dogs!
As Bonnie understood it, she adopted Ace permanently, and he couldn’t have had a better home. Ace will live out his days with his new friends in peace.
