In spite of their disabilities, some dogs have plenty of love to give, just as any other pet.
An adorable video shows a dog who is blind and deaf suddenly recognizing one of his favorite humans.
As a puppy, Bumper explored the world around him confidently, according to his owner Amy’s Instagram.
“He was totally my type of dog,” Amy wrote. Though she knew the pup was deaf and blind, she did her research and decided she would be the perfect owner for this differently-abled dog.
In fact, Bumper doesn’t let his disability inhibit him at all: “Amy told The Dodo that he views this as a normal dog existence,” she said.
He loves his family just like any other dog, but how can he recognize them when he cannot see or hear them?
Amy’s daughter Faeron recently visited home after moving out, and was thrilled to see her dog Bumper again.
Despite her inability to see, Bumper didn’t recognize Faeron right away. Once she reaches out to get her scent, though, everything clicks and Bumper is overjoyed.
This video shows how deaf and blind dogs show the same kind of love – it just “takes a minute” for them to recognize each other, the owner wrote.
I think it’s really special. He loves her so much,” Amy told The Dodo. “When she comes to visit, he’s so content.”
Bumper is a disabled dog that poses some unique challenges, but his owner says he can keep up with the family in activities like hiking, swimming, and kayaking and canoeing.
Amy said, “Basically, he does anything a dog with sight and hearing would do.”
The family loves Bumper just the way he is, regardless of his disability, and it’s wonderful to see him act like any other dog.
