As a tiny Pit Bull puppy, Libra, the Kramer family adopted her as a young puppy. As Libra became close friends with her adorable kitten sibling, Maxwell, over time, she developed a deep love for the family’s daughter, April, who was only eight years old at the time.
After a long struggle, April grew up, and Libra became a dependable ally for her. But after accompanying her younger sister for 15-happy years, Libra’s health began to deteriorate. After several veterinary examinations, it became evident Libra was in a lot of discomfort and had little time left. Her problems began with some severe seizures that eventually led to the discovery of cancerous pulmonary tumors.
A gift was April’s wish for Libra, the family’s suffering dog. The Krampuses wanted Libra to suffer as little as possible, so they decided to end her life as soon as possible. April’s family decided that when her ailing dog’s bladder failed rapidly and caused her excruciating pain, it was time to face reality. In addition, April wanted Libra to appreciate her unending love for one last thing.
Because Libra has always loved riding in cars, April rolled down the window in her last car trip to the veterinarian so Libra could enjoy her favorite pastime. With her eyes closed one last time, the sickly dog seemed relaxed for the next 30 minutes as she enjoyed the breeze and appreciated the passing vistas.
It was April’s intention to show her first car ride and her journey as a tribute to the memory of her childhood best friend, Libra. Rest in peace, Libra.
You will never forget the experience of spending time with their kind souls that allows us to experience their unconditional love when we lose a pet.
