It broke his heart when the family he was supposed to be adopted by returned him because he wasn’t “playful” enough to earn their love.
At the Philadelphia asylum, the staff believed the handsome and well-behaved boy would soon find his forever home when he was taken off the street for the first time in March. In March, however, the residence quickly became a nightmare.
In a kennel full of sacred animals waiting to be adopted, March wasn’t used to living there. It caused him emotional damage, and his sparks began to weaken. The biggest blow, however, was that he was rejected by a family who had promised to adopt him because he wasn’t as “playful” as they had hoped for.
In the end, March was devastated when he discovered that his adoption had been cancelled and he had been returned to the shelter. He looked depressed and defeated as he returned to the cold doghouse. As he curled up lazily in a corner, he stared pitifully at the wall.
A local news reporter named Dawn Timmeney heard March’s heartbreaking story and shared it on social media. March’s downcast kennel posture drew immense attention from the community – and changed his life forever as a result!
This is an extremely rare moment of victory, because the rescue came forward just 3 days before Dawn’s social media campaign was due. This allowed March to free him from the shelter.
March’s story ends on an optimistic note, but a lot of shelter dogs are euthanized because they cannot find homes in time. While the new rescue is a non-killing organization, it will take care of March until he finds his forever family.
