When you lose someone close to you, it’s devastating. It’s difficult to face the fact that you can’t do the things you used to do with them.
As a matter of fact, we are sad when our pets pass away. We cry all day long, remembering the wonderful times we spent with them. Although it takes a lot of time to move on, pets also cry for us. Our pets are capable of feeling emotions such as happiness and sadness. Therefore, they are sad when we are gone. Even if their owners are gone for a few seconds, dogs would whimper loudly.
Similarly, if it were the other way around, they would mourn the same way we would.
He had lived with his previous owner for more than a decade, but was hit by a huge shock when he realized that his owner had passed away.
Scooter loved his star blanket as it made him feel safe and secure every night while he slept. He knew that his owner was always there to protect him.
As a result, he’s left at the shelter all by himself this time.
The difference is that he tucks himself inside his blanket to comfort himself this time.
Heartbreakingly, he cries while inside it.
There is no doubt that he misses his owner, but all he can do at this point is cherish the memories he had with him in the past.
Scooter’s adoption was once a concern for the Humane Society of Branch County, a no-kill shelter in Michigan, because he was already 12 years old. But after seeing this special moment of him crying himself to sleep, they thought it would inspire people to help him live the rest of his life in a proper home for the rest of his life.
His story, shared by shelter manager Jan Nageldinger, caused thousands of people to cry.
“I saw Jan’s Facebook post, along with the rest of the world,” Jessica told The Dodo. “My husband Tim and I were lying in bed and it … brought me to tears. Without hesitation, I showed Tim and I said, ‘I have to go get him.’”
As soon as he arrived, Scooter immediately felt at home, and after a few days, he was already playing with his siblings, Jax, Hank, BabyFace, Spur, and Waylon.
In his new life with Jessica, Tim, and the rest of the family, he is living the good life. “It shows what one little senior dog can do. He moved an entire world with just a single post! That is beyond amazing,” Jessica said.
The fact that he found another loving family to love and care for him in his last years is so hear-warming!
