Nearly two years ago, Drools, a Pit Bull-Boxer mix, was brought to the rural Conour Animal Shelter in Monte Vista, Colorado.
The employees were confident that the cheerful youngster would be adopted soon, but Drools has already been in the shelter for 720 days – and he has a small chance of being adopted.
In her experience caring for Drools for several months, “Relay For Rescue” volunteer Kacie Widetich believes his lack of exposure is one reason he has gone unnoticed for all this time. Drools’ “undesirability” is also a consequence of his anxiety around other cats and dogs and the fact that he must be the only pet in the house.
Drools’ emotional well-being has been affected by constant rejection. Recently, the normally upbeat canine has been feeling particularly lonely, depressed, and hopeless. Kacey noticed his waning brilliance right away. She now spends her evenings caring for Drools in his kennel, ensuring he feels secure and loved.
The shelter has turned to the public for assistance in an effort to find Drools the perfect home. He may be wary of strangers at first, but once he interacts with them, he becomes extremely devoted and loving. As well as enjoying moderate to vigorous hobbies, he gets along well with children.
If you are interested in adopting Drools, please contact Conour Animal Shelter or Relay For Rescue. In addition, Conour Animal Shelter is raising money in order to help not only Drools, but all of the dogs in their care find loving homes and have happy lives.
