Seeing people go out of their way to help animals is always inspiring. Even the smallest good deed can make a difference.
In this case, police officers gave a ride to a lost pig after it was found out in the cold.
Anchorage police received a call about a pig standing on the side of the road in the Fairview neighborhood, according to a Facebook post.
It’s not the kind of case police officers take on often, and the officers couldn’t help but joke about it: “We’re all familiar with refrigerated bacon, we just never thought we’d respond to a call for service related to that topic,” they wrote.
Realizing the pig was cold and alone, they decided to give the pig a ride in their vehicle. They described him as a “portly dude” who was “quite friendly.”
The pig was reunited with his family, who were very amused to find out his name was “Elvis Pigsley.”
As the Anchorage Police Department wrote, the piggy rescue would rank as one of their most unusual cases.
Officers responded to a call in April to rescue a turkey from a convenience store. They said they could not blame the turkey since he crossed the street on his own and everything.
After bringing the bird home, they joked that it was lucky it was caught around Easter and not Thanksgiving: “Had it been Thanksgiving or Christmas, this story might have turned out a lot differently.”
Elvis Pigley is thankful for the police officers who helped him get home safely and warm!
