While Rachel and her husband were driving near Harbor Freight, in Oklahoma they noticed a pup standing in the pouring rain.
They immediately pulled over. Hurried to her side.
The couple felt deeply saddened when they saw the scared pit bull left out in the cold.
She looked around hoping that someone would notice her and provide an warm place for her.
They spoke with the store workers who informed them that the dog had been waiting in the parking lot for weeks.
The workers believed she had been abandoned so they made sure to feed her every day.
After putting a leash on the pups neck Rachels husband walked her to their car.
” soon as we arrived at the parking lot I knew he wouldn’t leave her there. My husband was determined to rescue her ” Rachel shared.
Once they brought Lucy as they later named her to their home she immediately hugged Rachels husband.
Witnessing their bond melted Rachels heart.
Both Rachel and her husband were convinced that Lucy was lost so they made the decision to foster her.
Upon bringing her home they made every effort to locate her owners.
They shared photos of Lucy on media but unfortunately no one came forward to claim her and she did not have a microchip.
Having 13 dogs of their own the couple fosters for The Outsiders Rescue OK based in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
To help Lucy feel at ease her foster parents took her to their laundry room. They showered her with affection and care.
The day Lucys foster parents introduced her to Ellie in their yard.Ellie is an alpha female among their dogs. The two canines sniffed each other out. Instantly formed a strong bond.
When Lucy met the rest of the pack she seamlessly blended in. The hearted dogs warmly embraced Lucy into their group and taught her how to play.
Ever since bringing Lucy into their home she developed a connection with Rachels husband.
They love snuggling it’s evident that she is a daddys girl.
“She definitely shows a preference, towards my husband.”It’s as if she instinctively knew that she had someone fighting for her.
That person is her someone. When we’re sitting on the couch she always chooses to be by his side ” Rachel explained.
Initially Rachel and her husband were unsure if Lucy would stay with them because they made efforts to locate her family.
However Lucy herself seemed to have an understanding that this was where she belonged.
“It’s like she knew this was home along. We were trying to find her owners just in case they were looking for her.
We weren’t sure if she would stay with us. But after a month I had a strong feeling that she wasn’t going anywhere ” Rachel shared.
From the moment Rachel and her husband cradled Lucy in their arms they fell head over heels in love with her.. When nobody came forward to claim her they officially adopted her through Outsiders Rescue OK, which made Lucy the happiest dog in the world.
Lucy has finally found her place under the sun with the love and care provided by her family. Their Instagram page is frequently updated with stories of their adventures, as a pack. It’s safe to say that Lucy has never been happier.
She loves running energetically in the yard and taking peaceful naps. This gorgeous Pitbull is living her life.
