Upon being asked to help an ailing dog’s owner, animal rescue workers did not hesitate. When they arrived, they were pushed away. The dog Lazarus had been trapped in a barn stall for six years. Rescuers were unable to enter the stall due to dirt and muck on the threshold.
They were horrified to see the dog’s condition when they reached the stall. Lazarus was so filthy that it was difficult for him to move. The handlers took Lazarus to a groomer immediately for a bath and haircut. Although he refused to let them cut his hair at first, he soon realized how nice it would feel.
After having 33 pounds of fur removed, Lazarus appeared to be a brand-new pet, but the dog was having difficulty retaining the fact that he had been rescued. Jessica Kincheloe, the groomer who saved the dog, said that he was extremely suspicious.
As time went on, another dog approached the man. He was given treats and gradually warmed up. It was obvious that he was not used to human contact. It could have been years since he felt a gentle, caring touch.
The Big Fluffy Dog Rescue took care of Lazarus for a few weeks before adopting him. This pup was unable to walk at first, but with proper therapy and training, he was able to start walking. It didn’t take long for him to find a loving home. On his eight birthday, his new family spoiled him with all the love he deserved. He has such a lovely coat of hair and a wonderful family to care for him now that he weighed 35 pounds of filth!
