There should be a good, loving home for every dog. There’s nothing sweeter than the first time a dog leaves a shelter and goes home with their new owner, knowing that they are safe and loved.
On the car ride to his forever home, a rescued pit bull holds hands with his new owner in a sweet viral video.
The Oconee Humane Society in Seneca, South Carolina, cared for Loki, a pit bull mix who was 1 years old. However, he became ill while he was in the shelter, and had to be treated at their Pet Care Clinic.
He met vet tech Abby Arellano there, who quickly formed a bond with the rescue dog. During his recovery, she took him home as a medical foster.
As their bond grew, Loki fit in well with Abby’s family. As soon as Loki was well enough to return to the adoption center, she decided to adopt him permanently.
“I thought he might not make it,” Abby told WCNC Charlotte. “I couldn’t let him go back when it was time, so we kept him.”
When Abby brought Loki home, something incredible happened: Loki grabbed her hand and held it the entire way home:
Over 7 million people have viewed the heartwarming video on TikTok. It moved many people and demonstrated the importance of adopting shelter dogs.
Abby reported Loki was “settling in great and happy to have a home.”
This is definitely one of the most heartwarming moments when a shelter dog finds a forever home! It’s evident Loki loves his new owner so much, and we’re so glad he has such a good home!
