If you came across a bunch of cute, but helpless puppies, what would you do?
Yes, you read that correctly. Here’s the story of 16 puppies and one mama dog they found abandoned near a cell tower in Oklahoma.
The president and director of Street Dog Rescue & Recovery, Mitzi Brogdon, had just rescued a dog nearby.
Her attention was drawn to a brown and black dog on the side of the road as she passed the cell tower near the Oklahoma animal shelter.
She appeared to be waiting for someone.
In the end, she did indeed wait for someone with the courage to help her.
As Brogdon approached the mama dog, she was surprised at how friendly she was.
In an interview with The Dodo, Brogdon said, “She came right up to me and let me pet her.”.
“She walked up the path to the cell tower, and I followed her,” Brogdon said. When I looked behind the fallen log, I saw all the puppies spilling out.”
Brogdon watched each puppy emerge one after another. As soon as she started counting, she was shocked.
In spite of her expertise as a rescuer, she found this scenario overwhelming.
As she saw 16 abandoned puppies in this dangerous area, she cried. These puppies wouldn’t have survived without mama dog.
According to the rescuer, if she hadn’t found them, their lives would have been in danger. Due to their mobility and playful nature, most of them were prone to getting hit by cars.
Brogdon continued, still feeling sad, “I always see dogs here in Oklahoma.”. “But that many at once was still shocking.”
All 16 puppies were raised by the mama dog, later named Dolly.
She was an amazing mother.
The brave mama dog took all 16 puppies like her own and made sure someone kindhearted would rescue all of them.
Brogdon then called for backup, and while she waited for them, she got to know the big bundle of puppies.
They were very social, meaning they had experienced human kindness before.
What was the purpose of throwing these helpless puppies away?
Soon, she had all the puppies, but then she realized something. Where will they stay?
Luckily, she asked for help by going live on Facebook, and in no time, she found places where the puppies could stay.
She found spots for all of them with 405 Animal Rescue, Safe Haven Animal Rescue, Forever Yours Dog Rescue, and The Fuzzy Friends Fund.
As of today, the puppies are staying in different foster homes until they get adopted.
“She’s perfectly adoption ready, she’s a gem,” Brogdon said to everyone. “She’s the one who saved those puppies.”
