He was neglected for too long, so rescuers were moved by a smile on an adopted dog’s face as they tried to find him a home. In early October, the SPCA of Wake County provided an update on Petey’s adoption after he was passed over by potential adopters and transferred from a high intake shelter in North Carolina.
The county shelter in North Carolina was where Petey spent the longest amount of time at just one year old. SPCA Wake posted a picture of him in the hopes that a family would find him this time. Upon seeing his picture, a family quickly fell in love with him.
Following his adoption, the couple shared some cute pictures of him cuddling with his new family and furry sibling. They also posted a picture of him curled up on a blanket.
As the shelter wrote on Facebook, Petey’s new family said, “That smile is the sign he knows he’s home.” Petey’s new family reports that he is adapting well to his new surroundings. He loves fetching things, sleeping in bed, and exploring the yard. I’m glad to have Petey around because he is liked and shows off his endearing side. He loves playing with other dogs and his new sibling.
