Her eyes would fill with tears whenever I stopped to let her know I was sorry. This animal hero deserves all the praise in the world.
In 2017, Sarah Slime, a visitor of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control shelter, filmed a Pitbull mix named Cinnamon crying at the shelter and uploaded the video to her Facebook. A lot of furry residents in North Carolina come to shelters after struggling through their lives, and the shelters are usually close to capacity. It is not uncommon for Sarah Sleime to frequent her local animal shelter, Charlotte Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control. She believes it is one of her life’s callings to help these shelter puppies know they are loved even though they’re waiting to be adopted. She has always been fascinated by animals.
Every once and a while, a specific dog stands bent Sarah for one reason another, and something about the dog’s disposition melts her heart at first sight. When Sarah saw one of the dogs, she was taken aback. She was captivated by Cinnamon’s sweet face and sad story. She wrote in the caption of her Facebook video, “Every time I said I used to be sorry to her, her eyes used to fill with tears.”
Cinnamon was abandoned at the shelter after being clearly pregnant with several litters of pups before being rescued from the shelter. Cinnamon is likely to have been used for reproduction before being rescued from the shelter. The puppies were not dropped off with her when she was abandoned. Sarah knew immediately that she had to do everything she could to ensure that this special dog was found a forever home.
As Sarah watched Cinnamon’s eyes slowly light up, she noticed that she seemed to dissolve into shreds whenever she heard her name. She took advantage of social media features by taking a video of Cinnamon and posting it to Facebook.
After sharing an adorable video of Cinnamon meeting her new family, one of Sarah’s friends adopted the dog a few days later, and Sarah shared another video of her adoption. As if she had known her new family her whole life, this cute dog behaved as if she had known them forever. From a poor dog to a happy dog with wagging tails, Cinnamon became an integral part of her new family.
